Associate Degree for Transfer
The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) was created to make your transfer journey smoother. It’s a pathway that lets you:
✅ Start at a community college
✅ Transfer with a guaranteed spot at a participating four-year university
✅ Earn your bachelor’s degree
Here’s how it works:
-
You complete 60 semester units (90 quarter units) of general education and major-related courses at a community college.
-
Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher (some majors/campuses may require higher).
-
You transfer with junior standing into a participating university.
-
You’ll then finish your bachelor’s degree with about 60 more units at the university.
Each university’s guarantee is a little different:
-
CSU: You’re guaranteed admission into the CSU system in a similar major - but not always to the specific campus of your choice.
-
HBCUs, Western Governors University, and some private universities in California: You’re guaranteed admission to the campus you apply to and the major you want.
Because each school has its own rules, it’s important to know your major early and plan ahead with a counselor.
