Empowering Student Voices
The Active Minds Club at Barstow Community College is a campus chapter of Active Minds, a nonprofit organization that promotes mental health, suicide prevention, and stigma reduction. We aim to use the student voice to change the conversations around mental health on our campus and our community.
Purpose
The Active Minds Club is dedicated to fostering a supportive, informed and stigma-free campus. Our goals are to:
-
Raise Awareness: Educate students about mental health issues and the importance of mental well-being.
-
Reduce stigma: Create a safe space where students feel empowered to seek help and speak openly about mental health without fear or shame.
-
Promote Holistic Care: Encourage practice that support both mental and physical health, emphasizing the connection between body and mind.
-
Bridge the Gap: Act as a link between students and the broader mental health community by hosting guest speakers, sharing educational resources, organizing fundraisers and planning events that inspire dialogue and understanding.
