Waitlist

Welcome to the Waitlist Information Page!

If the class, you want is full don’t worry! You may still have a chance to get in.
This page includes FAQs and policy details to help you understand how the waitlist works, what steps to take, and how to improve your chances of enrolling.

Read on to learn how the waitlist process operates, what to expect if a seat opens, and what to do once classes begin.

Waitlist Q&A – What You Need to Know!

No worries! You can join the waitlist as long as it’s still open. Waitlists close when they’re full or the Friday before the class starts—whichever comes first.

If a student drops the class, the first person on the waitlist will get an automated email sent to their my.barstow.edu email with registration instructions.

You’ll have 72 hours to log in and register. If you don’t act in time, the next person on the list gets their chance.

You’ll be removed from the waitlist. If the list is still open, you can rejoin—but spots move fast!

  • Check your my.barstow.edu email often
  • Clear up any holds on your account
  • Be ready to register—yes, even during weekends or holidays!

After the Class Starts…

Yes, but only with an add authorization code from the instructor.

Attend the first-class meeting and ask the instructor if space is available. If so, they may give you an add code.

Email the instructor on or before the first day of class. It is up to the instructor’s discretion whether to respond or issue an add code.

Instructors are encouraged to honor the waitlist order, but showing up (or reaching out for online classes) gives you a better chance.

Don’t give up—still attend or contact the instructor for the first class session. If there’s space, you might still get an add code!

To keep things fair, students can’t skip the waitlist. No one will be added to a full class unless they’re on the waitlist or receive an official add code.
