Associated Student Government (ASG)  

The Associated Student Government (ASG) of Barstow Community College is committed to empowering students by celebrating diversity; supporting programs and activities that develop mutual understanding; developing leadership qualities of honesty, advocacy, and integrity; by assisting the student in discovering success and happiness, and by endeavoring to build a future in which students are vitally involved in all academic and decision-making processes of the college.

Interested in joining ASG? Just fill out the application here and an ASG member will contact you for an interview. Interviews will take place throughout the academic year until all positions are filled. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in 5 units or more each semester at BCC.
  • Maintain a minimum & cumulative GPA of 2.0 each semester.
  • Be in good academic/disciplinary standing; and
  • Paid Student Activity Fee.

All members of the ASG Legislature, which consists of the members of the Executive Board and Senators, are required to fulfill their duties as specified in the ASG Constitution, Bylaws, and the ASG Handbook.

All members of the BCC ASG must: 

  • Have a good understanding of the BCC ASG Constitution, Bylaws, the most current edition of Robert's Rules of Order, the Brown Act, and parliamentary procedure. 
  • Serve as a student representative on at least one shared governance committee. 
  • Serve at least four (4) hours in the ASG Office conducting ASG business. 
  • Chair at least two (2) events each year to be determined through the consensus of the Executive Board. 
  • Represent and serve the students at Barstow Community College to the best of their ability in accordance with the ASG Constitution and Bylaws.
