Step 1: Secure Your Barstow B# (Student ID)
Apply online through CCCApply or visit barstow.edu and click "Apply Now." You can also visit our Welcome Center to apply in person.
Step 2: Attend a GED Workshop
Visit us to set up your Essential Education account. We offer workshops in both English and Spanish every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM in the TLSC (located inside the Library building).
Step 3: Meet the Team & Get Resources
Connect with our Adult Education team in the library to get the tools you need:
- Enroll in SDEV 150: Provides you with daily tutoring support.
- GED Prep Books: Available at the library for 30-day loans.
- Personalized Planning: You may also meet with our supervisor, Elena Rivera, for a customized educational plan.
Step 4: Start Learning
Work on your GED program at your own pace, either online or here at the TLSC. Our workshop instructors focus on one of the four GED sections at a time to ensure your success.
Step 5: Take Your Tests
When you’re ready, we’ll provide the support and scheduling info you need. Testing typically takes place at the Barstow Adult School (BAS).
Step 6: Plan Your Next Move
Once you’ve passed 3 of the 4 sections, it’s time to look ahead! We will coordinate meetings with:
- Michelle Colleoc (Counselor): To create a comprehensive educational plan for your future.
- Melissa Church (Career Ready Coordinator): To explore career pathways and job readiness.
Step 7: Finalize Your Exams
Finish your final GED section. Once all four tests are passed, you’ve officially earned your high school equivalency!
Step 8: Celebrate & Prepare for Graduation
We want to see you in a cap and gown! At this stage, we will collect your sizes for our annual graduation ceremony held every May.
Step 9: Graduation Day!
We honor your hard work and success. Specific details regarding the ceremony will be sent to you about a month prior to the big day.
