Located in the heart of the Mojave Desert in California the Performing Arts Center at Barstow Community College is the new cultural hub for the surrounding community in the high desert. Looking to host a variety of events that are culturally diverse and welcome the entire community to come out and visit. It is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all of its patrons and performers alike.
The BCC Performing Arts Center began construction in October of 2010 and was set for completion in fall of 2012. However, it was met with numerous construction halts and was completed in summer of 2014. It was greeted with a soft grand opening that took place that fall to kick off its first academic classes. The instrumental music classes were the first to move into the new facility soon followed by the vocal, piano, and theater classes the following spring semester.
Throughout the academic semester there were many student performance concertsts and the BCC Theatre Arts production of Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream."
On February 21st, 2015, the PAC had its first major community event; the grand opening featuring The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band. Gaining a watchful eye by the community the building hosted the second major event; the USAF Band of the Golden West a month later which was free to anyone who wanted to go.
Both performances received a full house and was praised for their success. The PAC team looks forward to hosting many more events throughout the year.
We Continue to Grow:
Since it's Grand Opening in Fedbruary of 2015, the Performing Arts Center has really stepped it up to offer it's first full season of 10 events in one year for the 2017-2018 Academic year. Please visit the Gallery to view all of the performances of the first and second season.
The PAC continues to improve with a new Box Office Manager and ticket processing venue. Vendini.com is our new third party ticket provider and is much more user friendly. We are also now accepting credit cards for ALL performances at the PAC. The outside clients that rent our facility can also sell tickets through Vendini without any additional cost to them.
The Blackbox Theatre now has Video Projector capabilities that will allow BCC to offer movies, art films, Ted Talks and much more during the school year.
The Performing Arts Center Main Stage has also upgraded the lighting system to include six new 'movers' that will add an element of Las Vegas style lighting to our shows. We've also added a 10,000 lumens short throw projector so we'll be able to offer 'live' scenery on the back Cyclorama screen. So, instead of painting clouds in a sky on sets, clouds will be rolling across the sky, waves will be lapping on a beach and many more effects.
