Dr. Jennifer Rodden Discusses the Growth of Allied Health Programs at BCC

Dr. Rodden Interview

Barstow Community College continues to expand its commitment to workforce development through its Career Technical Education (CTE) division. In this interview, Dr. Jennifer Rodden, Dean of Instruction for CTE, joins John "The Van Guy" on The Highway Stations to discuss the exciting growth of Allied Health programs at the college.

A major highlight is the success of BCC's first Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) cohort, which recently celebrated its pinning ceremony, a time-honored nursing tradition. Dr. Rodden explains how the CNA program serves as a critical "foot in the door" for students entering the healthcare field, offering a rigorous curriculum that combines classroom theory with hands-on clinical experience at local facilities like Mountain View Post-Acute.

Listen in as they discuss the requirements for joining the program, the "stackable" nature of CTE certificates (from Home Health Aide to Acute CNA), and the college's future plans to expand existing pathways like EMT and bring on new ones like Registered Nursing. Whether you are looking for a quick path to employment in cosmetology or welding, or the first step in a long medical career, BCC's CTE program has a place for you.
