Legends of Learning (LOL Program)
Are you a 6-12th grade student, or parent of a student, who would like to see improved grades, content knowledge, and confidence? Our 6-12th grade tutoring program may be a good fit for you!
Why attend 6-12th grade tutoring with the Teaching and Learning Center at BCC?
- You would like improved performance on assignments and assessments.
- There are gaps in previous concepts or chapters that are holding you back from the content being learned now.
- After learning something it is still "muddy" in your mind and guidance from a tutor will help to clarify things.
- You have a basic understanding of the concept but would like someone to sit with you while you practice to help build your confidence.
- Time management and organization are helpful skills you would like to know more about.
How it works:
Tutoring is 100% cost-free. After filling out and submitting the required paperwork, students can participate in both in-person and remote tutoring appointments for both math and English. Appointments can be made through by calling (760) 252-7288.
Your role as a parent:
- Fill out and submit the "Concurrent Enrollment" form to Admissions and Records (admissions@barstow.edu)
- Fill out and submit the "Tutoring for Minors" form to the TLSC (TLSC@barstow.edu)
- If your student is 13 years or older, help them fill out and submit the "Application for Admission" (For tracking purposes only. Your student does not have to enroll in any courses to submit the application.)
- Contact the TLSC at (760) 252-7288 to set up an appointment for you and your student to meet with TLSC staff to set goals and go over expectations.
- Remain available during both in-person and remote tutoring sessions in case your student or tutor needs assistance during the appointment.
