Barstow Community College (BCC) is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all student accounts to help protect your personal information and college systems. MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second verification step when signing in.
IMPORTANT: MFA Setup Deadline - December 18, 2026
All students must set up MFA no later than Friday, December 18, 2026. MFA will be REQUIRED beginning Saturday, December 19, 2026.
If you have not completed MFA setup by the deadline, you will not be able to access MyBCC or systems that require MyBCC authentication until you complete the setup process. This includes registration, education planning, and classes in Canvas, among other important services.
What You Need to Do
Follow the MFA Setup Guide to complete your setup. You only need to set up one authentication method:
- Microsoft Authenticator (recommended): A free app for your smartphone or tablet.
- Google Authenticator: Another free authenticator app.
- Pin:YOU: An option for students who do not have a smartphone or prefer not to use an authenticator app.
Important: Sign in using your BCC username, NOT your email address.
If you have already completed MFA setup through MyBCC/PortalGuard, no further action is needed.

Should you need further assistance, there are several resources available to you:
Phone Assistance: The IT Helpdesk is available at 760-252-7279. Phones are staffed Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. You may leave a voicemail outside of regular business hours that will be answered the following business day.
In-Person Assistance (for a limited time): IT staff will be available in the VPSS Lobby in the Student Services building to help students set up MFA, answer questions, and troubleshoot any issues. Feel free to stop by during these hours if you would like someone to walk you through the process.
