This Certificate of Competency focuses on refining fundamental language and communication skills in
English. Program emphasis is on independent reading, strengthening reading comprehension, analysis
of main ideas and significant details, response to facts and opinions, vocabulary enrichment, writing
process, paragraph development and organization, purpose, audience, and sentence types. Students
also continue to build fluency in small and whole group discussions, give short informal and formal

The Certificate of Competency focuses on the development of fundamental language and
communication skills in English. Program emphasis is on developing reading strategies for
comprehension, responding to intermediate-level readings, and sentence and paragraph development.
Students build listening comprehension and conversational fluency and norms through small and
whole group discussions and beginning presentations. This program takes a content-based approach
to instruction, connecting skills to cultural context, focusing on topics of health and/or learning to earn

This program is primarily designed for military service members to improve scores on the TABE test and
AFCT test (Armed Forces Competency Test). Unlikely to succeed students will improve their success
rates in college courses after completing this certificate.

This Certificate of Competency focuses on building the foundations of literacy in English for speakers of other languages. This Certificate marks the successful development of the use of English in basic everyday contexts. Students will be able to engage in general conversations on familiar, everyday topics, ask basic questions, and comprehend beginning readings, responding appropriately with simple sentences and questions

A Certificate of Achievement in Technical Theatre is recommended for those considering a professional career in the entertainment industry or theatre. A certificate would demonstrate support and knowledge for those who are attempting to gain entry-level employment as a Theatre Technician, Theatrical Stage Employee, Moving Picture Technician, Entertainment Artist, or in Allied Crafts.

The Forklift Professional Certificate of Completion is designed to prepare students for the employment market for jobs requiring entry-level skills in forklift operations. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive certification in accordance with CalOSHA to test for a forklift license in California. The program also covers high demand skills including: developing skills essential in the workplace and basic computer digital concepts.

This certificate is designed to give the Trades Technician student the fundamental technical skills and knowledge required for entry-level employment. Covered in this course are Safety, Hand and Power tools, Print Reading, Electrical Basics, HVAC/R, Welding, Pipe fitting & Plumbing systems, and Basic Construction Principles and practices. This course will be appropriate for students who wish to pursue a career in the skilled Residential, Commercial and Industry trades.

The Customer Service and Digital Literacy Certificate of Completion is designed to prepare students for the employment market at the entry-level in Essential Skills, Customer Service and Computer Digital Literacy in all sizes and types of organizations. The program covers developing skills essential in the workplace, gaining knowledge required to work in a customer-centered position, and learning about basic computer digital concepts.

This program of study will qualify students for National Registry of EMT's Testing/Certification which is required by the State of California and the Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency (IC EMA).

This certificate prepares students for entry level positions in industry and service occupations requiring skills in Industrial Maintenance Mechanics. This program is based on nationally recognized industry standards.
