It is important for students to know where they are in terms of their academic standing. Being on either academic or progress probation and dismissal can delay achieving your educational and career goals. Barstow Community College wants to assist you with understanding academic standing, student expectations and timelines so you can develop a clear plan of how to be successful while here.
If you took 12 or more units in a semester, earned a GPA of 2.0 or higher, and finished 50% or more of those units with grades other than W, I, NP, you are in good academic standing.
Dean’s and President’s Lists - At the close of the fall and spring semesters, the Dean’s and President’s Lists are compiled. Students who have earned six or more graded units and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher are placed on the Dean’s List. Students who have earned 12 or more graded units and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.75 or higher are placed on the President’s List.
