Young Writers Recognized in Barstow

Barstow, CA – The 32nd annual Desert Heritage Writing Contest will celebrate student writers by hosting its annual awards ceremony on Saturday April 29, 2017 from 2-4 pm in the Barstow Community College gymnasium. Students from grade 5 through college, from all area schools, were invited to submit to the annual writing contest in three categories: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Winners of the contest will receive certificates or plaques, cash and prizes, and the top four place-winners in each age group will have their work published in a booklet to be sold at the awards ceremony. During the ceremony, there will be entertainment by Caliente Duo, refreshments for sale by the Callboard Club, and raffles for prizes that will be awarded to attendees. The public is invited.
