Plaques Unveiled at BCC Performing Arts Center

Barstow, CA – In a ceremony held in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) on November 30th at 10:30 AM, an etched glass plaque was unveiled by trustees of the Barstow Community College District – Phil Harris and Marcia Pierce. The plaque is lit by LED lights and is permanently mounted on the wall in the lobby. It lists the people and businesses who joined the President’s Circle in 2015 with an initial contribution of $1,500.

Dr. Deborah DiThomas, Superintendent/President of the Barstow Community College District, thanked all of the contributors to the Performing Arts Center. “The entire community is grateful for your donations supporting the Arts and our Community College.” In addition to the main plaque in the lobby, The Sarkisian Green Room, was also unveiled in honor of the late Dr. James Sarkis Sarkisian. Numerous seats in the main theater of the PAC have also been named by people and businesses contributing to the support of the PAC.

Dr. DiThomas also recognized Jeri Justus for her work as the Executive Director of the Barstow College Foundation with a certificate and medallion. Jeri is retiring from her position with the foundation, but said that she will always be a “friend of the foundation” in years to come.

The program during today’s ceremony included music performed by Amara Seegrist, a student at BCC. Music and Theater professor, Amy Ross, announced the college’s free Band Concert tonight at 7:00 PM in the PAC, and the Holiday Choral Concert on Dec. 2nd ($4 general admission, $3 for students and seniors). She also mentioned “A Night on Broadway” that will be presented by the BCC Callboard Performing Arts Club on December 17th at 7:00 PM.
