Country Band to Perform at the PAC

Barstow, CA – Rodeo Revival will perform a country music celebration on July 4th at the Barstow Community College Performing Arts Center (the PAC). The concert is the first of its kind at the PAC featuring classic country music and Top 40 songs from the 80s and 90s. The band has won numerous awards for their performances. They are a professional group from Norco, CA, with a huge following in Southern California.

Lead singer Chelsea Carrington, made her way to Nashville not long after College, Her talents were quickly appreciated at Nashville’s famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Honky Tonk Central, Rippy's & Legends. She is excited about performing in Barstow, “Rodeo Revival is all about celebration. We celebrate a love of country music, the talents God has given us, and the fun-loving folks that come to celebrate with us! I'm so delighted to bring the celebration to Barstow in commemoration of our nation's Independence!” Chelsea performs with her dad, Jesse Oren, who is the lead male vocalist. Preparing for this concert, he said, “Performing now with my daughter in Barstow on our nation’s greatest holiday is truly an honor.” Jesse first shared his singing talents with his step-father's country western band in 1976. “I was 16 and I remember how welcomed the crowd made me feel.” His love for western swing, writing songs and playing them became his passion. He produced original songs to sell at local shows, and wound up with a hit, "Baby I Wanna Whirl You Around," which sold a whopping 577,000 copies! Jesse was a member of the City Limits Band (1986-1993). He also appeared on "Be a Star" in Nashville in 1993. Justin Hize is the lead guitarist of the band. He feels a connection with Barstow’s military heritage. He remembers, “I joined the USMC in 1998 and served for 4 years as an infantryman and radio operator stationed in 29 Palms. One of the greatest experiences of my life. Truly life changing.” Since then he has been exercising his musical talents as much as possible. He said, “Playing with Rodeo Revival is an incredible blessing.” The band also includes: harmony vocalist, Lindsey Leonette; male vocalist and drummer, James Emerson; guitar, banjo and the mandolin player Daniel Newell; bass guitarist Cliff Saunders; bass guitar and vocalist Nathan York Jr.; and keyboard artist Chad Stanner.

Comedian, Chuck Diesel, will also be on stage that night doing his stand-up routine. He is a local entertainer with fond memories of growing up in Barstow. He remembered, “I always attended 4th of July events in Barstow.” When asked about performing with Rodeo Revival on the 4th of July, he said, “I can’t think of any greater honor than to be a part of this great event with this wonderful band on such a special day for our country.” Chuck has performed at The Ontario Improv, and he was part of the Buck and Chuck Comedy team that performed at Flappers in Claremont and Burbank; the Ice House in Pasadena; and at the KCAL Kegger in Redlands. He has also performed at the Comedy Store in L.A. and San Diego, and as co-headliner at the John Lovitz club. In September, he is co-headlining in Texas with comedy legend, and BET producer, Shang Forbes.

Sherry Simburger, Civic Center & College Event Manager at the PAC, claims, “Rodeo Revival has a sound and energy that combines Barstow’s rodeo history and country roots. The band already shares the same synergy.” She revealed, “I can’t wait for our community to feel that sensation through their music at the PAC.” College President, Dr. Debbie DiThomas, said she is hoping that with the low price of just $10 per ticket, “this will be an event that everyone can afford. We expect the PAC to be packed full of country music fans on July 4th.” The performance will start right after the Barstow Fireworks at 10:00 PM at the PAC. The box office is open Mon. - Thurs., 9 AM to Noon.
