Barstow, CA – Barstow Community College (BCC) has moved up the registration dates for the Spring Semester which begins on January 8, 2018. Dr. David Morse, the college’s new Vice President of Academic Services, explained, “Allowing our current students to register for classes beginning in October and throughout November ensures that our returning students are admitted into the classes they need to graduate on schedule.” He commended BCC Staff, Faculty and Adminisrators who have, “worked hard to ensure that the class schedules are in place and ready for early registration.”
The registration start dates are assigned to specific “Tiers” or groups of students as designated by California’s Education Code and the BCC Board of Trustees.

Tier 1 students, including Active Duty Military, Veterans, Foster Youth, and students participating in EOPS, ACCESS, and CalWORKS programs, started registering for classes on Oct. 30, 2017.

Tier 2 students are those who have completed 60-100 units with an informed education goal, students participating in the Bridge to College Success, Student Athletes, and members of the Associated Student Government. These students can start registering for classes on Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Tier 3 students have completed between 45 and 60 units and have declared an appropriate education goal and Active Duty Military Family Members. This group of students may begin registering for classes on Monday, November 6, 2017

Tier 4 students includes all returning and continuing students and those newly admitted students who are fully matriculated. Registration for this group of students begins on Wednesday, Novemebr 8, 2017

Open Registraiton for newly admitted students who are not fully matriculated and those who do not meet the requirements to receive priority registration (such as concurrently enrolled high school students), may begin signing up for classes on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

Some certificate programs at BCC take as little as nine months to complete, and Associates Degrees can be earned in just 2 years.
