Benefit cards do not roll over from semester to semester. Students are responsible for picking up their benefit cards by the stated deadline dates, usually the final day of classes. Check your student email for specific dates.

Students must wait 24 hours after completing a program requirement to be eligible to pick up/request their benefit cards.

Childcare Stipends

If you change childcare providers, you are required to complete a Child Care Application. If your childcare provider changes their address, a new W-9 must be completed.

Program Requirements

In your last semester, you do not need to be in 12 units for EOPS. However, you will need to meet with a SPS counselor to complete the EOPS Unit Waiver Request. After submitting your form, the program Director will determine your eligibility to be enrolled in less than 12 units. You will be notified of the status of your waiver through your BCC student email.

EOPS/CARE/NEXTUP and CalWORKs students have program requirements every semester that they must complete in order to be in good standing. Click here for more information on the program requirements you need to complete.

*Program requirements may change from semester to semester, please check your email or contact the office if you have any questions.

Counseling appointments must be with an SPS Counselor to complete the required counseling contacts. Meeting with a general or ACCESS counselor will NOT count towards your required Counseling Contacts!

However, you can meet with general counselors for any general questions or assistance.

Services

Students may pick up their benefit cards 24 hours after they complete a requirement or submit a workshop form.

Benefit cards are not replaced under any circumstances. You are responsible for your benefit cards once you receive them or once they are mailed to you.

Program Probation

Students are placed on EOPS Probation for not completing 12 units at a 2.0 semester GPA for any Fall or Spring semester.

Students on EOPS Probation who complete their probationary semester with 12 units at a 2.0 semester GPA will be placed on Good Standing for the following semester.

Program Dismissal

If you are dismissed from EOPS, you must "sit out" a main semester (Spring/Fall) and pass 12 units with a 2.0 GPA and meet program qualifications again.

If you were dismissed and had extenuating circumstance that prohibited you from completing program requirements by the stated deadline dates then you can submit the EOPS Reinstatement Appeal form. Please submit the completed appeal form to eops@barstow.edu and attach any supporting documentation to the email.

The committee will review your appeal and notify you of the status of your appeal through your BCC student email.

If you do not notify the program staff that you are no longer participating in the program you can be at risk of being placed on program probation or program dismissal. It is best that you communicate with program staff to avoid being placed in probation or dismissal. This will affect you when you try to reapply.
