An FKCE Advisory Meeting is a collaborative gathering held by the Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) Program, typically through California Community Colleges, to ensure the program is effectively meeting the needs of resource families such as foster, kinship, and adoptive caregivers. These meetings bring together key stakeholders—including FKCE coordinators, caregivers, county child welfare staff, community-based organizations, educators, and other professionals involved in child welfare—to provide input, guidance, and feedback on the development and improvement of caregiver training. Advisory meetings usually occur quarterly or biannually and include discussions on recent and upcoming classes, participation data, training needs assessments, updates from partner agencies, and evaluation of program outcomes. They serve as a vital space for collaboration, planning, and open communication, ensuring FKCE services remain relevant, community-driven, and aligned with the evolving needs of families caring for youth in foster care.
