Melanie Burnau

Melanie Burnau serves as General Manager of the Barstow College Foundation, where she provides strategic leadership and advances initiatives that strengthen educational opportunities, workforce development, and community engagement throughout the region. A lifelong Barstow resident and member of a family-owned business with a multi-generational legacy in the local business community, Melanie is deeply committed to the continued growth and success of the Barstow region. She is passionate about fostering meaningful partnerships that support student success, economic development, and community advancement.

As both a dedicated professional and parent, Melanie brings a unique and personal perspective to her work. She is the proud parent of a graduate of Northwest Lineman College, a Barstow community college transfer-bound student, and a K–12 student. Through these experiences, she has gained firsthand insight into the diverse educational pathways available to students and families in Barstow and the surrounding communities.

Passionate about expanding access to education and career opportunities, Melanie is a strong advocate for increasing awareness of local resources, building connections between education and industry, and creating pathways that empower students to achieve their goals. Her leadership is driven by a commitment to helping current and future generations thrive—both locally and beyond.
