Board Treasurer - Assistant Secretary

Edy Seehafer was born in Columbus, Ohio, and has always held a deep appreciation for the natural world. A first-generation college student whose parents' lives were profoundly shaped by the Great Depression and World War II, Edy earned a Master of Science in Environmental Planning and Policy Analysis. Early environmental advocacy-including focusing on local watershed issues and leading backpacking and canoeing trips for the Sierra Club-ultimately charted her career path.

An internship in Washington, D.C., eventually brought Edy to Barstow, California, in 1993. After more than 20 years of public service as an environmental planner and project manager for the Bureau of Land Management, she retired to focus on her other passion: paying it forward by helping youth and individuals in need overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams.

In addition to her role on the Barstow College Foundation Board, Edy serves as an officer for two other local non-profits. She was drawn to the Foundation by Barstow Community College’s robust student support programs and its diverse educational pathways, which equip students with essential skills for the job market while providing the foundational education needed for advanced degrees. Outside of her community service, Edy harbors a secret passion for the theatre arts-despite a self-proclaimed terror of the stage.
