Barstow Community CollegeStudent ServicesGetting Started at BCC

The pathway to success in your dream job or new career begins here. Follow this path to an excellent education and new opportunities. Our step by step tutorials will help you through the registration process. And, if you need more help along the way, please stop by the Transfer and Career Planning Center. We are ready to assist you.

Step 1) Admissions Application: All new BCC students and returning students who have missed a semester (other than the summer semester) need to apply. It takes just a few minutes, and then you’ll receive an acceptance email with instructions on how to get your Student ID (B Number). If for any reason we are unable to process your application, you will receive an email letting you know what to do next.

Step 2) Orientation: All new BCC students and any returning student who have missed three years must complete the online orientation. It will give you tons of helpful information about being a student at BCC. You’ll also want to review the College Catalog and the Student Handbook to learn more about being a student at BCC and the policies and programs of the college.

Step 3) Assessment: All BCC students taking math and/or English courses as part of their educational goal, need appropriate course placement.  Counselors or advisors are available to determining the level of courses appropriate for each educational goal.  To start the process of getting assessed please go to the Assessment Page.

Step 4) Education Planning: All new BCC students and any returning students who have missed at least three years must meet with a counselor to develop a Student Education Plan or “SEP.” If you are a transfer student, member of the military, or a veteran, be sure to bring a copy of your unofficial transcript or JST. If you have had military training, you’ll probably be eligible for college credit. When you meet with a counselor they will help you find out what credit you may have earned from your previous coursework.

Step 5) Priority Registration: Students who complete the steps outlined here can qualify for priority registration.

Step 6) Applying for Financial Aid: Most of our students qualify for Financial Aid. You can apply online and the process is quick and usually painless.
