COMMUNITY INVITED TO BOOK SIGNING CEREMONY:
COLLEGE CELEBRATES INSTRUCTOR’S BOOK ABOUT VIETNAM WAR

BARSTOW- On Sept. 21 at 5 p.m., Barstow Community College will host a book signing ceremony in the college’s Learning Resource Center to honor history instructor, Mark Cauble.

Cauble authored “Into the DMZ ” – a first-hand account of Mark’s experiences as a young PFC Marine during the Vietnam War. Published by Heritage Books, “Into the DMZ” tells the little-known story of one of the most intense battles of the Vietnam War, Operation Hickory.

During the book signing, the author will read passages from “Into the DMZ” and sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase. Those interested in reserving a copy of “Into the DMZ” in advance of the event are welcome to call the Barstow Community College bookstore at 252-6722.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

BARSTOW COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST
FALL THEATRE PRODUCTION: “THE UNINVITED

BARSTOW – The Barstow Community College Performing Arts Department will perform the gothic thriller, “The Uninvited” the weekends of Oct. 14 and Oct. 22 in the college’s Norman Smith Center.
Set in 1940’s England, “The Uninvited” focuses on a brother and sister who buy a beautiful old house and find out that it is full of secrets. The play was adapted for the stage by Tim Kelly from the novel by Dorothy McArdle. “The Uninvited” also appeared on the big screen in 1944, and starred Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey.

Performances of the play are scheduled for Oct. 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
“The Uninvited” is directed by Amy Ross with set and lighting design by Ron Trotter.
While the content of this play is appropriate for all ages, it might be somewhat frightening for young children.
