BARSTOW COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY DAY

Posted: September 13, 2004

BARSTOW – Barstow Community College will host its fourth annual College and University Day on Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the college’s Norman Smith Center.

Representatives from Barstow Community College and many colleges and universities will be on-hand to answer the public’s questions about admission criteria, degree and course offerings, application deadlines, fees, financial aid, and transfer requirements.

New to this annual event is an information booth held by Barstow Community College’s Financial Office. Information regarding financial aid programs and services will be available for individuals who need assistance with paying for college.

High school students, parents, and college students interested in transfer or furthering their education can all benefit from this event that is free and open to the public.

“This is a good opportunity for people who need more information about college,” says event organizer, Rich Johnston. “All the colleges are in one place, and it’s a very friendly, non-threatening environment.”
According to Johnston, most of the colleges participating are from southern California, but a number are from northern California and out-of-state. Some of the colleges participating include the California State Universities at San Bernardino and Bakersfield, Humboldt State University, and the Universities of California at Redlands and Riverside.

An optional Del Taco lunch sponsored by the Barstow College Associated Student Body will be available for all attendees at a cost of just $2 per person.

For more information call 252-2411, ext. 7321or 7204.
