BARSTOW COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY DAY

POSTED: October 3, 2005

BARSTOW – Barstow Community College will host its fifth annual College and University Day on Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the college’s gymnasium.

Representatives from Barstow Community College and more than 30 colleges and universities will be on-hand to answer the public’s questions about admission criteria, degree and course offerings, application deadlines, fees, financial aid, and transfer requirements.

High school students, parents, and college students interested in transfer or furthering their education can all benefit from this event that is free and open to the public.

“This is a great opportunity for students to learn what their options are for college,” says event organizer, Tammy McCarthy. “They can meet with university representatives from across the state and beyond in one convenient location.”

According to McCarthy, most of the colleges participating are from southern California, but a number are from northern California, and a few are from out-of-state. Some of the colleges participating include the California State Universities at San Bernardino and Bakersfield, Loma Linda University, and the Universities of California at Redlands and Riverside.

An optional lunch sponsored by the Barstow Community College Associated Student Body will be available for all attendees at a cost of just $1 per person.
