Barstow College Graduation Announcement
BARSTOW – Barstow College will honor its largest ever graduating class with a commencement ceremony on May 21 at 7 p.m. in the college’s gymnasium located at 2700 Barstow Rd.. The graduating class is comprised of 543 graduates. A reception will be held in the Norman Smith Center immediately following the ceremony.
The Barstow College class of 2004 valedictorian is Teresita Skallman, and the
class salutatorian is Betina Zableckis. Both will make presentations during
the commencement ceremony.

FROM MARINE CORPS AIR STATION
MIRAMAR, CALIF. – The Miramar
campus of Barstow College will honor its largest ever graduating class from
the Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, Calif. with a commencement ceremony
at 2 p.m. on May 25 in the Miramar Officers Club. The graduating class is comprised
of approximately 60 Marines and dependents. A reception, also planned for the
Officers Club, will immediately follow the graduation ceremony.

Barstow College will host free computer workshops for
the community on May 12 and 19 at 12 p.m. The workshops, designed to teach computer
basics, are open to anyone age 13 and older.
The first workshop will focus on how to operate a computer using the Windows
XP® operating system, and the second workshop will focus on how to use e-mail.
Both workshops will be held in room B3 of the Barstow College Business Building.
Space is limited, so those interested in participating are asked to make a reservation
by calling Jacob Batarseh at 252-2411, ext. 7221.
BARSTOW COLLEGE STUDENT CLUBS TO HOST LUNCH
CELEBRATION AND TALENT SHOW FOR CINCO DE MAYO
BARSTOW – On May 5, the Barstow College Multicultural Club and Club Technology will team to host a Cinco de Mayo lunch celebration from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the college’s amphitheatre. Later that night, the Multicultural Club will host a talent show at 7 p.m. in the Norman Smith Center. Both events are open to the public.
The lunch celebration will feature a live DJ, carne asada platas, and barbecue.
The talent show is open to the community, and anyone interested in performing must register by May 3. To register, stop by the Barstow College Business Office between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday or contact club advisor, Wendy Chisholm by phone at 252-2411, ext. 7210 or by e-mail at wchishol@barstow.edu.
Contestants must pay a $10 security deposit that will
be refunded following their performance at the talent show. Contestants are
encouraged but not required to perform a talent that is representative of a
culture.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. The first place winner will receive
$300, second place will receive $200, and third place will receive $100.
Admission for the talent show on May 5 is $2 for general admission; and students with a Barstow College ASB card pay $1.50. Audience participation will be a large part of the show and help judges with their decisions. The talent show is appropriate for those age 13 and older.
