Host Desert Plant Selection Workshop

Barstow – The Barstow Community College, in association with the Alliance for Water Awareness and Conservation (AWAC), will host a Desert Plant Selection Workshop on Saturday September 9.  The workshop will take place on campus at the Norman Smith Center and will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

The public is invited to come and learn more about proper landscaping in desert communities, water conservation and plant selection.  The class will be taught by Rex Van Den Berg, director of Maintenance and Operations at the college and AWAC member.

Barstow Community College Foundation
to Host Annual Barbecue Fundraiser

Barstow – The Barstow Community College Foundation will host its Annual Barbecue Fundraiser on Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Slash X Café located at 28040 Barstow Rd.  The barbecue will feature live music, entertainment, and a prize drawing of a Suzuki VL1500 motorcycle, a pair of Quadsport (Z250 and  Z400) or $10,000 cash.

Barbecue dinner tickets are just $10, children’s tickets are $5 (available at the door) and tickets for the prize drawing are $200 and include two barbecue dinners.

All proceeds from food and ticket sales will benefit the work of the Barstow Community College Foundation and its support of the college and its students.

The Barbecue will begin at 3 p.m. and the prize drawing will begin at 4 p.m.  The public is invited to this event and fundraiser.

Barstow Community College to Host Job Fair For New Home Depot

BARSTOW— Barstow Community College, in conjunction with The Home Depot located on L Street and I-15, will host an informational Job Fair for the public. 

The Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Representatives from The Home Depot will have an informational table in front of the Norman Smith Center on campus.  Interested applicants should bring with them necessary job related information (ex., employment history and references) and be prepared to access the on-line job application at the college’s Transfer Center.  Computers will be available to the public for this community based job fair only.   The on-line application process will take approximately 1 ½ hours to complete.
