Getting Started At Barstow College

The following checklist is designed to assist students in getting started at Barstow College and initiating educational benefits.

  • Submit an application for admissions to Barstow College.
  • If you are transferring submit VA form 22-1995 (Change of Program or Place of Training).
  • Request that official transcripts from all previously attended colleges, universities, and training institutes be sent to the Barstow College Admissions Office. Submit your AARTS or SMART transcript as soon as possible.
  • Obtain Veterans Statement of Responsibility from your Barstow College Veterans Affairs Advisor, or online at this Web site.
  • Obtain a Barstow College class schedule to determine class listings and availability.
  • Schedule an appointment with a counselor to formulate an education plan. An education plan is required by the VA. Assistance is also available online or by walk-in.
  • Submit the Veterans forms and a copy of all DD 214s to your Barstow College Veterans Certifying Official, Danielle Cordova.
  • Turn in your Statement of Responsibility to the Certifying Official each semester or summer session in order to continue receiving GI Bill benefits. You may print out the Veterans Statement of Responsibility from the Barstow College web site and FAX it to 760-252-6748.
