Tutorial Center with students working at computers #3The Ft. Irwin computer lab is located in Room C1 in building 285 with 20 computers to assist students enrolled in both traditional and online courses at Barstow College.  Students need to enroll in Education 150 in order to use the lab.  There is no charge.

Online tutoring

Students taking traditional or on line courses may not be able to utilize the Tutoring Center.  For that reason, we have an on line tutorial service available to Barstow College students.  

The service is free!  

The first step is to enroll in Educ 150. This is a non-credit class and there is no fee.To sign up for Education 150 and begin your tutoring experience simply go to online-tutoring signup.

After enrolling in EDUC 150, you can follow the steps below to access the tutoring Discussion Board.

1. Go to http://www.bcconline.com.
2. Click “Discussion Groups” on the left side of the screen.
3. Scroll down and click “Tutorial Discussion Group Area”
4. Type the [user name] and [password] which is the first four letters of your last name followed by the last four digits of your social security number (with no space between).
5. Follow the directions posted at the top of the Discussion Board. If you need help learning how to use the discussion board click on this link.

 

Ft. Irwin Tutors Needed

Ft. Irwin is currently  in need of tutors.  Our biggest need is in the computer science areas, math, and English.  

To apply for a tutoring position, a student must have completed the course to be tutored with a "B" or higher and maintain a 2.5 GPA.  Once approved, the student will complete an eight-module training program.  Those interested may contact the Tutorial Services Specialist at bctutorial@bcconline.com or call 252-2411 Ext 7261.
