Dr. Ted Baca

Ted Baca is in his first term as Board member which commenced in 2005. Born in New Mexico and raised in Barstow, Trustee Baca attended Barstow H.S. and continued his education at New Mexico Highlands University where he earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees as a double major in biology and physical education. While in college Trustee Baca was a starting short stop for the varsity baseball team as a freshman and a track athlete holding the long jump record of 23’, 4”. He continued his education as a graduate teaching assistant in biology with a National Science Foundation Fellowship and went on to the University of Oregon as a National Institute of Health Teaching Fellow earning a Ph.D. in health sciences with emphasis in human biology and environmental biology.
Following his formal education, Trustee Baca returned to Barstow and taught at BCC in various subjects including anatomy, general biology, human biology, physical education, physiology and zoology. He also served in several administrative positions including the Executive Vice President – Instruction and Student Services.
An advocate of volunteerism, Trustee Baca serves on the Desert Manna Homeless Shelter, San Bernardino County Air Pollution Control Board and former member of the Commission of the Park and Recreation District in Barstow.
