Board
of Governor’s Fee Waiver
It is the student’s responsibility to complete an application
for the Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver.
This fee waiver is available only to California Residents and members
of the military and their dependents. Residency is determined by
the Admissions & Records Office. Eligibility for the fee waiver
is based on income. There are three ways to qualify for the BOG:
1. BOG A: Students must submit documentation of monthly cash
assistance from one of the following sources: TANF/CalWorks, SSI/SSP,
General Assistance OR students must submit certification from
California Department of VA/National Guard Adjutant General that
they qualify for a dependent’s fee waiver OR students must
submit documentation that they are a recipient of the Congressional
Medal of Honor or as a child of a recipient, or a dependent of
a victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack OR students
must submit documentation that they are eligible as a dependent
of a deceased law enforcement/fire suppression personnel killed
in the line of duty.
2. BOG B: Students may qualify based on income criteria. This
criterion is established by the Chancellor’s Office. The
income guidelines are updated annually by the Chancellor’s
Office. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, these
criteria are not published but are kept on file at the Financial
Aid Office.
3. BOG C: Students who are not eligible for BOG A or BOG b, may
qualify for BOG C. Students wanting to qualify for BOG C must
complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
BOG C qualifications are based on Expected Family Contribution
(EFC). These eligibility criteria are determined by the Chancellor’s
Office. Due to the sensitive nature of information, the qualifying
EFC cut-off is not published, but is kept on file in the Financial
Aid Office.
California State
Grants
Cal Grant B recipients may receive an annual award of $1551
Cal Grant C recipients may receive an annual award of $576
The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) awards Cal Grants.
FOR ALL CAL GRANT PROGRAMS, NEW APPLICANTS MUST:
- be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or eligible noncitizen;
- be a California resident and certify to this on questions #18,
#19, and #20 of the FAFSA, or parent must be a California resident
and certify to this on questions #67, #68, and #69 of the FAFSA.
(If 18 years or older by 09/20/04, student must have lived in
California for at least one year before 09/20/04);
- be enrolled at least half time and making satisfactory academic
progress;
- attend an eligible California School;
- not be in default on any government loan or owe a refund on
a state or federal grant;
- complied with the Selective Service requirements if required
to do so;
- not have earned a BA or BS degree;
- meet the FAFSA postmarked deadline of March 2, 2004.
Federal Grant Eligibiity
Pell Eligibility:
• Based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) received
from Department of Education
• Up to $4050 per aid year
• Must NOT have a B.A/B.S. degree
FSEOG:
• Pell Recipients get first priority
• Based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) received from
Department of Education and having children that
the student supports more than 50%
• Must NOT have a B.S./B.A. degree
• Up to $200 per semester
• Due to a limited amount of funds, not all qualified students
will receive FSEOG.
Federal Work Study:
• Based on Expected Family Contribution (EFC) received
from Department of Education
• Awarded when student is hired for an eligible position
• Up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session
• $6.75 per hour
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
For first year students the annual grant amount is $750
For second year students the annual grant amount is $1300
Students must have completed a rigorous course of study, which will be determined by the student’s high school counselor and the Financial Aid office. Each applicant must have their high school counselor complete the ACG Verification Form and return it to the Financial Aid office.
Students must be a US Citizen, must be enrolled in 12 or more units, must be eligible for the Pell Grant, and must be enrolled in an AA /AS program.
First year students must have graduated high school after January 1, 2006 and must not have been enrolled as a regular student in programs of undergraduate education.
Second year students must have graduated from high school after January 1, 2005. Students must have completed 30 units during their first year with a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher.
