**Students must complete a FAFSA Application in order to qualify for a Board of Governor's Fee Waiver.**
This fee waiver is
available only to California Residents and members of the military
and their dependents. Residency is determined by the Admissions
& Records Office. Eligibility for the fee waiver is based on
income. There are three ways to qualify for the BOG:
1. BOG A: Students must submit documentation of monthly cash
assistance from one of the following sources: TANF/CalWorks, SSI/SSP,
General Assistance OR students must submit certification
from California Department of VA/National Guard Adjutant General
that they qualify for a dependent’s fee waiver OR
students must submit documentation that they are a recipient
of the Congressional Medal of Honor or as a child of a recipient,
or a dependent of a victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist
attack OR students must submit documentation
that they are eligible as a dependent of a deceased law enforcement/fire
suppression personnel killed in the line of duty.
2. BOG B: Students may qualify based on income criteria. This
criterion is established by the Chancellor’s Office. The
income guidelines are updated annually by the Chancellor’s
Office. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, these
criteria are not published but are kept on file at the Financial
Aid Office.
3. BOG C: Students who are not eligible for BOG A or BOG B,
may qualify for BOB C. BOG C qualifications are based on Expected Family Contribution
(EFC) determined by the Department of Education when the student completes their FAFSA application.. These eligibility criteria are determined by the Chancellor’s
Office. Due to the sensitive nature of information, the qualifying
EFC cut-of is not published, but is kept on file in the Financial
Aid Office.
