Head Coach Diana Maestas

Diana Maestas

Diana Maestas is in her first year of coaching at the college level. She was born and raised in Barstow.  Diana has played softball since she was 13. She graduated from Barstow High School in 1989, where she played 4 years varsity softball.  As a senior, Diana made all league at first base.  She was Barstow High School’s Athlete of the Year and was Athlete of the Year for the surrounding Citrus Belt Area.  She went to Victor Valley College in 1989–1990, where she made the All-League Foothill Conference Team and led the league in triples.  She has her Associates of Arts in Science from Barstow Community College.  Diana is currently working on her BA and would like to get her Masters Degree.

Diana was an Assistant Coach at Victor Valley College in 1991.  Diana coached the Barstow Middle School 8th grade basketball team in 2008 with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses.  She was named Head Softball Coach at Barstow Community College in the Fall of 2008.  Diana’s is currently recruiting for her first team at Barstow College beginning in January, 2010.  

"My plan is to rebuild the Barstow College softball team to become a strong competitor in the Foothill Conference.  I will be stressing “teamwork” and plan to develop our players to be able to compete at the next level of competition.  I want to give our student-athletes the resources to become excellent student-athletes.  We will work on developing good fundamentals of the game of softball, be well-conditioned and display good attitude and sportsmanship.  My goal is to build a strong program for the long term."

Asst. Coach Jennie Fregoso

Jennie Fregoso is in her first year of coaching at the college level. She has been playing fastpitch softball since she was 8 years old. She graduated from Bloomington High School where she played two years of varsity softball as an outfielder. Prior to Bloomington she played softball and attended Sweet Springs High School in Missouri for her first 2 years of high school.

She graduated Barstow Community College in 2006 with her Associates Degree in Humanities and played softball for BCC in 2006 and 2007. She transferred to the University of Redlands to play softball and received her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies, with a minor in Physical Education. She is currently attending Azusa Pacific University's graduate program to attain her Masters Degree in Physical Education and her Single Subject Credential in Physical Education. She lives in Victorville, is married, and is expecting her first child in April 2010.

Jennie hopes to give back to the program and see it become a successful program that can be built upon and deliver athletes to both a higher level of education and a higher level of competition in softball.
