Dear Prospective Student-Athletes,
Welcome to the BCC Women’s Hoop Site. I am Coach Kim and this site is all
about your Lady Viking Team, past, present, and you are
hopefully our future.
Here’s a little bit about the program….the team….where we have been and what
our goal is for you.
The program….we are currently enter our 9th season with the women’s
basketball team here at Barstow College. We have come a long way since the
start, back in August of 1998. Through much transformation and learning, we have
established priorities to help players move onto 4 year university level
programs. Playing at Barstow College is an opportunity to take the next step in
getting ready for that next level. Players are expected to perform in the
classroom, be responsible off the court, and give 101% on the court. Players
that meet these challenges have opportunities to move on and further their
student-athlete careers.
The players….we have a unique environment here in Barstow and an
ecclectic group of people involved in our program…our alumni and current players
consist of many who have moved onto 4 year university programs, earning
basketball scholarships to further their education. We have players who have
completed their AA Degree and are successful members of the work force. There
are several who have joined the military and our serving our country. There are
a few who are coaching basketball at high schools. What avenue would YOU like to
follow?
The coaching staff … in a nutshell….we are a dedicated group of
individuals who want to see players succeed academically, athletically, and in
life. We are deeply committed to the possibility of your success as a
student-athlete. We will push you, care about you, and expect nothing but the
best from you.
Coaching basketball is one of my true passions in life. I feel fortunate that
playing basketball led me through so many doors of opportunity, because without
the experience, I am not sure if I would have even had a college education, let
alone actually earn a degree. All in all, my passion for basketball and the
opportunity it provided for me has transformed my life. Now, the ultimate
feeling is trying to provide the same opportunity for other athletes. The
opportunity to use basketball as an avenue to greater things is a huge thrill
and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.
What are you waiting for???? Fill out the
student-athlete questionnaire
and I’ll call you.
