New Student Orientation

Seal of Barstow College

New students indicating that they plan to complete an Associate degree or certificate, transfer to a four-year school, or improve basic skills are encouraged to attend a New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation takes place at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters.  We hope to have an online orientation available for our distance education students in the new future.  All Non-Exempt students are strongly encouraged to participate in new student orientation.

Students are encouraged to enroll in Orientation 1, College Success, during their first semester of enrollment. Orientation will get you off on the right foot and ease your transition and entry into Barstow Community College. In addition, it is your opportunity to connect with a counselor.

The new student orientation is designed to help students learn about policies, procedures, student services, college publications, campus locations, and how to reach your goals. Certificate, degree and transfer requirements are discussed in order to assist the student with registration.

Students attending a new student orientation will receive a comprehensive packet which includes the Student Guide, a college catalog and information regarding campus support services and programs.  At the end of the orientation the counselor will facilitate appropriate course selection. However, the final responsibility for the selection of proper courses rests with the student.

Contact the Admissions Office about scheduled orientations.
